A piece of my mind: Golf

Today my grandmother told me that she started playing golf. That reminded me how golf had an impact on my philosophy.

I always got frustrated in golf what made my conescutive shots pretty bad. The past shots made my future shots worse. Since I started to focus only on the next shot, my scores got a lot better. Imagine, you hit your tee shot. It not always lands on the green, it can land in the bunker. The trick is not to take that bunker shot frustrated, beceause it will get you in even more trouble. If you forget your frustrations, you make a great bunker shot that can take you back in the game.

I started to think that same counts for life. Sometimes success will come to you right away, that is that tee shot that lands on the green. More often you won’t make that great shot. That means that you have to work for success. If then you start solving a problem frustated and thinking all the time about the problem, you will never fix the problem. Clearing your mind and thinking how you can get from the current position to the green, or from the current problem to the solution, will make you succesful.

Patiënt centraal door Otto Bleker. Interessante tips waren om te vragen of je je telefoon op mag pakken. Verder benadrukken hoe je fatsoenlijk met patiënten omgaat. Benadrukt dat het belangrijk is om patiënten samen te laten vatten.

Dr. d’Ancona robotchirurgie – Veel herhaling met workshop van Dr. Draaisma. Apparaat voordelen zijn de 3D view, de vele gewrichten, goed zicht. Geen haptische feedback. Toekomstplannen zijn dat je op basis van CT tumormarges invoegt en force feedback implementeert. Voorlopig is de techniek vooral patiënt driven. In de gynaecologie met name te gebruiken bij radicale hysterectomie.
Dr. Limpens Medicine 2.0 – hoe je gebruik maakt van Blogs, RSS feeds, igoogle, pubmed searches opslaat. Wordle is mooie tool om overzicht van woorden te geven. napster. youtube op CDC, Cochrane & BMJ podcast. Ves Dimov geeft goed dagelijks nieuws. iGoogle voor de RSS feed.
Dr. Brand – de stoel van God – Auteur van de gelijknamige boek over euthanasie kwesties. Nog veel te regelen bij kinderen en psychiatrische patiënten. Gevaar is dat veel artsen palliatieve sedatie geven in plaats van euthanasie. Indicatie van euthanasie is de waardigheid van de mens terwijl die voor palliatieve sedatie met name pijn is.

We tested out the new 3D ultrasound today. It is looking to develop a way that I will be the 3D ultrasound expert of the pelvic floor in Amsterdam

A 83 year old woman who was raped as a 15 year old girl, got pregnant, had to give away her child and never had sex since. Very tragic!

Performing my first abortion, on medical grounds. If we would have done nothing, the foetus would have died anyaway and we would have risked a severe infection for the mother.
